This wheel lifts the cooling water for a brandy distillery
This distillery is located in an open-air museum in Romania. A supply of cooling water is needed in the distilling process. This comes from the river, which also turns the wheel and lifts the water to the raised trough.

Details of the wheel [33] from Sibiu
Each of the 32 small boxes on the rim lifts half a litre to the trough. From here, it runs to the cottage in which the distillery is located.

Reconstruction of a famous noria
In Cordoba, Spain, a hydraulic noria from the 12th Century has been reconstructed. In 1492, it was stopped for a time on the queen's orders because the creaking of the wheel disturbed her night's sleep.
